Greek mortals made many sacrifices to him and built many sanctuaries in his honor. The Oak tree is also a sacred symbol of his. The eagle, scepter, or the lightning bolt is usually used as a symbol for Zeus. His weapon is a thunderbolt, in which he uses to cast lightening down at people. He controls the sky and heaven domain, and is the most powerful of all the gods. (Gall.) Zeus is the king of all the gods. They got assigned their domains in a random draw. Zeus is king of the sky and heavens, Poseidon is king of the sea, and Hades is the ruler of the Underworld. They are the most powerful gods because they are the sons of the most powerful titan, Cronus. (Sophocles.) There are three main Greek gods, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. ” Although the gods were rarely directly mentioned, they were in control of mostly everything. She had so much faith in the gods that she never doubted that she was doing the right thing – “I know I am pleasing those I should please most. Antigone knew that she would die if she went against Creon, but figured disrespecting the gods was more dangerous. ” The messenger also prayed to Persephone and Hades to beg that Haimon and Antigone are still alive. At the end of the play, Creon realizes that “the laws of the gods are mighty, and a man must serve them to the last day of his life. Creon swears to the gods that he will kill Antigone in front of Haimon. Haimon references Zeus when asking Creon not to punish Antigone too harshly. ” That quote means that Antigone does not think people can understand the way gods think. Which of us can say what the gods hold wicked. Antigone’s main motive for defying Creon is that she does not think Creon is doing what the gods would want. Throughout the play, “God” refers to Zeus, the king of gods. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, the most powerful Greek gods, each played a part in the story of Antigone by Sophocles. Their power and influence over the Greek people is evident in many of the stories in Greek literature. In turn, they played a pivotal role in the Greek people’s lives. Lopale CP English 10 The Greek Gods and Their Role in Antigone The Greek gods were thought of as the most powerful forces to ever exist in ancient times.

What if our RescueTime forums were as populated with like-minded people as a popular subreddit? What a resource it would become. The chat box displaying our completed tasks would be flying-a constant source of motivation and a little healthy competition. The group energy and momentum to achieve would be so overwhelmingly powerful. Imagine a Guided Focus Session with 100 or more participants. When there’s more of us, we’re all stronger together. Check it out!ĭuring the sign up process, they’ll be prompted to add the email address of the friend who referred them. If you’re a RescueTime subscriber, you can get 50% off your subscription with our direct referral program. And of course, direct links all over social media and email blasts as you see fit.īut maybe you don’t want to blast a link to all your followers. Add a clickable button in your Instagram Story, or a “Swipe Up” prompt on Snapchat. Say “link in my bio” in an Instagram post. And of course, that amount would scale as sign-ups increased.Īct like an influencer. Even if you have five people sign up, the amount will easily grow over the course of several months. Maybe you have an email newsletter or blog-you’ve gotta know someone who could benefit from improved focus and time management. Think about the possibilities! If you happen to be even slightly “internet famous” -a few hundred or a few thousand followers on Instagram or Twitter-you could convert a healthy percentage of them right off the bat with one post. And what better way for us to achieve that than with a program that you can benefit from too? We’re so excited about our product right now, and all the wonderful things it does for us in our work, (as well as some new fun things coming soon) that we legitimately, from a pure place, are motivated to get in front of as many people as we possibly can. Which means, a monthly subscription will send you…monthly money. Simple as that! So now, armed with an overpriced coffee and a dozen eggs, I feel like I have a responsibility: to pass the knowledge on to you. (I’ve always liked to think of myself as an advocate for RescueTime, but this, this was another level of incentive.)Ī dinner out? A movie with a friend? Not feeling guilty about buying fancy coffees? That, or some other little way to treat myself, every month. I felt inspired-and objectively motivated, too-to do this again and again, with more and more people. And after it reached $100, that notification came from my bank account. As they signed up and subscribed, I watched as my affiliate credits increased. I thought it might be a bust and that no one would use my referral link, but instead, several friends signed up. I had started using the link in my own life to test it out. I suddenly realized: this was the first dividend I had received from the RescueTime affiliate program.Ī little background: anyone-including you, reading this article right now-can be paid real money by sharing RescueTime with your friends, or fans, or followers. If you didn’t know, I am-full disclosure-an contractor of RescueTime, which means they pay me sometimes.īut what was different this time was the reason I was being paid. This particular deposit was from RescueTime. Just to see those green numbers that signify I made money-it never gets old. I’ve make a habit of clicking that notification every time. The other day I got a notification from my PayPal: “New deposit!” I am impressed with the way KIPP does measurement. I think most of their high school plans are in the Houston area. Without more great high schools their work will not have the leverage it deserves to have. In almost every area they stop at 8th so they have to work hard to try and get their kids into good high schools. They would prefer to get them earlier and they have five schools that do that but mostly they start in 5th. They have decided that kids are still open minded and can still catch up when they get them in 5th grade. Almost all of those are middle schools only. I also read the KIPP 2007 Report Card which goes through every KIPP school open for more than a year. In addition the teachers are asked to let the kids call them anytime. Between the long day (7:30 to 5) and every other Saturday and three summer weeks it is 60% more than normal schools. The amount of time they spend with the kids really is unbelievable. Mike and Dave are gifted teachers but they do manage to get less gifted people doing most of what they do. High school teaching is somewhat different but a lot of the key skills are the same.Ī teacher has to be a real performer and very dedicated to the kids to teach the way that KIPP expects. I wonder how much has been done to record best practices on video and make them easily available online. You also have to know the topic to make it clear and interesting. Great teaching in 5th-9th grade is very hard because it’s challenging to get all of the kids engaged and because dealing with kids who cause trouble or are bored requires special skills. The book gives a great sense of how hard it was to get KIPP going and how intense the focus on good teaching is. (I spoke about KIPP a bit in a 2008 TED talk I gave and there’s an interesting report on KIPP from NBC.) KIPP is remarkable in some ways, particularly in its ability to attract great teachers and engage and inspire students. describes the history of KIPP by telling the story of Mike Feinberg and Dave Levin. Here, two images will be simultaneously recorded, allowing you to adjust the composition and/or wonky horizons without losing resolutions. Further to that, you can also elect to enable “Capture Outside the Frame” in the main menu. You can now see what’s happening outside of the frame, which is very useful for waiting for the opportune moment, deciding that a wider angle might be a better idea or reframing your composition altogether. One of the most genuinely useful new features of the iPhone 11 Pro makes use of the wide and super-wide cameras to help with composition when shooting with either the wide or telephoto lens. While this means that enthusiasts may be left wanting when it comes to flexibility, it means using it is very straightforward – essentially it’s just snap and go. Other than the standard and Portrait mode, the iPhone 11 Pro native camera app retains the simplicity that Apple devices have become known for. You might notice something looks a little off if you zoom in closely, but otherwise, for social sharing, you can pretend you’re toting a “proper” camera with relative ease. In practice the results are fairly impressive. The obvious candidate for the treatment is pets and animals, but it should also give a little bit of a boost to still life subjects too. Portrait mode is by no means new for the iPhone 11 Pro range, but there have been some improvements made under-the-hood with how it recognises non-human subjects. On very close inspection, it appears that the Huawei P30 Pro does a slightly better job of retaining detail, but the iPhone shots will certainly pass muster on Instagram and the likes. On occasion the results can be a little on the over-sharpened side, taking away a little realism, but they look great on the iPhone 11 Pro’s stellar screen. Overall, Night mode puts in an excellent performance which is just about on par with those we’ve seen elsewhere. The iPhone 11 Pro will decide for itself how many seconds to shoot for, but you can use a slider to take control of it, while attaching the phone to a tripod will see the mode jump to the maximum number of seconds. The mode works by shooting a number of short exposures then blending them together to produce a finished image which gives the impression of a long exposure. Competing directly with phones such as the Huawei P30 Pro and the Google Pixel 3, the iPhone 11 Pro’s version is an automatic mode which appears when the phone detects low light levels. Night mode is something we’ve been waiting for what feels like a very long time to see on an iPhone, so it’s good to finally have it. However, with fewer pixels on the sensor, low-light shooting is likely to be very good – which is probably more important than having super high resolution to work with, from a phone anyway.Īs for software updates, there have been some interesting new features added for the iPhone 11 range. Given that some other manufacturers on the market have recently introduced 48-megapixel phone sensors, the 12-megapixel offerings of the iPhone 11 Pro might sound a little bit reserved. Both the standard and telephoto lens feature optical image stabilisation, but the super wide-angle does not. We don’t know exactly what dimensions the device is using for its sensors, since Apple doesn’t like to share that information – but it’s likely that the standard lens has the largest sensor. Only the 2x telephoto lens is not found on the cheaper iPhone 11, so if you’re hoping to save a bit of cash, make sure you check out our iPhone 11 review.Īll three of the iPhone 11 Pro’s cameras have a 12-megapixel sensor. You’ll also get a standard lens (26mm, f/1.8) and a 2x telephoto lens (52mm, with an improved maximum aperture of f/2.0). If you decide to go for the more expensive iPhone 11 Pro, you’ll be treated to three lenses which, for the first time in an Apple device, includes an ultra-wide angle lens (13mm equivalent, f/2.4). Same camera setup as the iPhone 11 Pro Max, while the ultra-wide and standard lens is the same on the cheaper iPhone 11Īpple has equipped all of its iPhone 11 range with very similar camera setups.Software improvements as well as hardware improvements – new features include Night Mode, the latest Smart HDR and upgrades to Portrait mode.Standard and telephoto length the same as iPhone XS.Triple lens setup, including the first time an iPhone has used an ultra-wide angle lens. For these reasons, we recommend selecting Bitwarden if you want a free plan because you can use it on all the devices you want. In addition, LastPass is removing customer support by email for all free users as of August 2021. These extra features would’ve given LastPass the win over Bitwarden for free versions, except for the fact that LastPass recently limited its unlimited password support to only working on one device type (either desktop or mobile). LastPass offers one-to-one sharing and a password generator in its free version, along with secure notes, multifactor authentication and LastPass Authenticator. You’ll also have one-to-one text sharing, a password generator and the ability to self-host your passwords. In summation, Bitwarden is one of the best free password managers you can get.īitwarden offers unlimited password storage on unlimited devices with its free version. However, in recent months LastPass has cut down on the features for its free version and singlehandedly given the win to Bitwarden. In previous years, the free version race would’ve been a bit closer between Bitwarden and LastPass. LastPass’ mobile apps are prettier, smoother and a pleasure to use, and though much of that is due to LastPass’ higher price, we have to declare LastPass as the winner for usability. On the other hand, LastPass sometimes appears clunkier in its interfaces, but adding passwords is easier and jumping into browser extensions and autofill is a snap. That doesn’t mean Bitwarden isn’t accessible to anyone, but you won’t find easy-to-follow setup steps quite as easily as you would with LastPass. This also means Bitwarden can be frustrating for the less tech savvy user. For many, the level of customization will work great, but it can quickly become confusing if you don’t recognize certain terms used. While Bitwarden appears simple on the surface, it enables you to dig into deeper settings and personalize your features. That difference is clearly seen in the web vaults and password manager apps. LastPass is geared more toward a general audience, so it needs an easy-to-use interface. Bitwarden is geared toward an audience of individuals who like to figure things out on their own, customize their options and do things themselves. Bitwarden’s open-source code offers a higher level of transparency than its competitors that use closed-source code, including LastPass.īitwarden and LastPass differ in their philosophies for usability. Anyone in the world can see exactly how Bitwarden works, and the community works together to continuously improve its security and performance. WINNER: Bitwardenīitwarden wins the privacy and security category thanks to its open-source code. Bitwarden, however, has never been breached or hacked, unlike LastPass. LastPass pulls ahead in the competition with its multikey authentication, which is flexible and trumps Bitwarden’s two-factor authentication. Password generators, bug bounty programs, consistent third-party auditing and security scoring that shows repetitive or weak passwords are also included with both Bitwarden and LastPass. This means your master password is never sent to either company’s servers nor can it be accessed by a hacker. You’ll also find that both services utilize a “Zero-Knowledge” model. For instance, both companies use Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-256 encryption and Password-Based Key Derivation Function 2 (PBKDF2) for ultra-tight security surrounding your password vault. Bitwarden and LastPass both boast some of the best security and privacy features found with password managers. Trope guide for the international visitor: The complete official soundtrack can be listened to here. The game's official website can be found here. The title was funded on Kickstarter in under 30 hours, and as of 2020, it is available on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac & Linux, Playstation 4, X Box One, and Nintendo Switch. It boasts a "handcrafted" aesthetic for its various environments as they were constructed with physical miniature sets that were scanned and inserted into the game's engine through a process called photogrammetry, resulting in gorgeous and highly detailed scenery across all platforms. Trüberbrook is a fully-voiced, single player sci-fi mystery adventure game that draws heavily from the likes of Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and Monkey Island albeit with a mid-20th Century twist. But beneath the silent, ever-present gaze of Saturn, who knows what else could be up there? With the nearest police detective days away, his only hope for assistance may lie in young paleoanthropologist and fellow tourist Gretchen Lemke, who agrees to aid him when the thief's trail leads into the mountains where some Proto-Germanic ruins she's hoping to find supposedly are. Then, in the dead of night, his papers are stolen by a man with glowing footprints.ĭuring his search for the culprit, he gets to know the villagers, each one stranger than the last and of little-to-no help to his investigation. This tranquil and remote slice of the nation of his forefathers might just be the place where Hans can clear his head enough to finally finish his thesis, which he is on the verge of cracking. Its citizens are a bustle over the recent discovery of an intact dinosaur skeleton in the nearby marshes, and are in deep preparations for Trüberbrook's 998th anniversary. The journey is long, but the town is peaceful and pleasant if a bit run-down. Sure, he doesn't remember taking part in any competition for such a prize, but why let a perfectly good plane ticket and hotel room go to waste? Hans Tannhauser, an American student of Quantum Physics in his late twenties, is surprised to discover that he has won an all-expenses paid trip to a small, German village: Trüberbrook. Cold War Germany, a nation split down the middle. All things considered, this could most likely be.the best vacation ever."Īugust 31, 1967. I feel spewn out into the most barren, dark void of Europe. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 is quite a step up from its predecessor. Stream multiprocessors: 30 (64 CUDA per SM) Additionally, as we saw in our Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super review, Nvidia has more than enough firepower to take on the AMD Navi lineup. It’s worth mentioning, however, that AMD does offer a compelling alternative with the AMD Radeon RX 5700, expected to offer comparable performance at 1440p on Max or Ultra settings, though bizarrely at $30 more and without any ray tracing capability. It still falters behind its bigger brother, the $499 (about £380, AU$690) Nvidia RTX 2070, but puts AMD’s $399 (£379, AU$679) Radeon RX Vega 56 and $279 (£249, AU$425) XFX Radeon RX 590 Fatboy in their place. That’s a $200 price bump, although some might argue that this isn’t nearly as severe a price bump as we’ve seen on the company’s higher-end GPUs.ĭespite the higher price, the Nvidia RTX 2060 certainly punches well above its weight and feels more like a replacement for the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, which cost $449 (£419, AU$759) around the time of this review. Where can you get it? You can buy it from retailers in the US, UK, and AustraliaĪs we expected, the new Nvidia RTX 2060 comes at a higher $339 (about £270, AU$490) price than the card we looked at in our Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 review, which is the one the RTX 2060 is replacing and which has an MSRP starting at $179 (about £140, AU$180).How much is it? MSRP listed at $339 (about £270, AU$490).Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060: price and availability Otherwise, the Nvidia RTX 2060 currently stands unchallenged as one of the best midrange graphics cards you can buy. Users on a tighter budget may be better served by the myriad versions of the Radeon RX 590, if they’re okay with just gaming at a Full HD resolution. Plus, this graphics card can give users a taste of ray-traced gaming, though, not to the uncompromising level of the company’s higher-end cards. |
